BOKA … a mouthful of fresh, unique flavors (Seattle, Washington)

SMALL BITE: Sure, Seattle has the Space Needle. But in the foodie world, BOKA restaurant + bar is a big attraction to locals and visitors alike, too. Located in the very upscale Hotel 1000, BOKA is a fun place that combines a restaurant, bar and lounge into one vibrant eating, drinking and meeting place. The restaurant bills its menu as “urban American,” with a Southern twist, and is well-known for its handcrafted cocktails.

SIGNATURE DISH:  Fried chicken, which has a Colonel Sanders-ish mystique about it because the chef refuses to disclose his family’s secret recipe. Several of the wait staff also said the braised short rib is to-die-for, and for dessert, the  Chunky Monkey can’t be missed.

THE DISH FROM DINERS: “WOW! Small menu but big taste.  Lots of great items from the short rib/petite filet combo to the halibut…great combination of tastebud-twisting flavors.  Delectable menu, just the right amount of food to fill but not stuff. Solid local wine assortment.”

FOOD FOR THOUGHT: There are two big reasons to smile at BOKA: They serve up two different Happy Hours, in case you’re sad that you missed the first one. The first pouring of happiness is from 2:30 p.m. to 6 p.m., and the other from 9:30 p.m. to 12:30 p.m. You’ll get $1 off beer and wine, and half-priced appetizers. Ask for the bartender from Estonia. He’s a mad scientist behind the bar and can concoct super-creative, handcrafted cocktails!

HOURS: Breakfast: Monday through Friday, 6:30 a.m. – 11:00 a.m.
Lunch: Monday through Friday, 11:00 a.m. – 2:30 p.m.
Dinner: Monday through Sunday, 5:00 p.m. – 11:00 p.m.
Brunch: Saturday and Sunday,  8:00 a.m. – 2:30 p.m.
