Dayton Street Grille, a capital idea (Madison, Wisconsin)

SMALL BITE: Tucked away inside the Madison Concourse Hotel, Dayton Street Grille is one of the best-kept secrets in the capital city. It is run by an award-winning chef who taps into the state’s bounty by using seasonal ingredients from local Wisconsin farms and dairies.  Dayton Street Grille is known for its breakfast buffet, which includes pastries and sweets made by the restaurant’s own pastry chef; and its salad bar, which diners say is as “healthful and fresh as a trip to the farmers market.

SIGNATURE DISHES:  Breakfast standouts include Ham and Gruyere Crepes and Breakfast Enchiladas; lunch specialties include Carrot Apple Soup and Smoked Turkey BLT; and the dinner line-up features Lemon Thyme Crusted Salmon and a Garlic and Herb-Grilled Pork Chop. Of course, they proudly use real Wisconsin Cheese.

DISH FROM DINERS: “Hidden Gem!  Outstanding food in a pleasant atmosphere.  Dayton Street Grille is inside the Madison Concourse Hotel, so not visible if you don’t already know about it.  We’ve eaten there at least a half a dozen times, and the food is always outstanding.”
