This writer has been to Lake Tahoe a hundred times, and never even knew this hotel or this fabulous restaurant was even there. It’s easy to miss, sandwiched between the Timberlake Lodge and Harrah’s. Next time you’re in Tahoe, look for it and stop in. It’s one of the best-kept secrets in that beautiful lake town.
SIGNATURE DISHES: It’s more like “what ISN’T on the menu! Specializing in California casual cuisine, you’ll find tasty breakfast, lunch and dinner selections such as omelets, juicy burgers, pizzas made to order, French Onion Soup, Fish & Chips, Grilled Salmon, Shrimp Linguini, Lava Cake and Root-Beer Floats. And you’ll always find a special brunch menu on all the memorable occasions, like Easter and Mother’s Day.
THE DISH FROM DINERS: “Was so happy to have stumbled (literally) on to this place for my Birthday. Marcus was so attentive and really made it special. The Chicken Parmesan was nice and I ate the vegetables… Which says a lot.”
FOOD FOR THOUGHT: One of the coolest features of Echo Restaurant is its Bloody Mary Bar on Saturday and Sunday. For just $5 a drink, you can transform into a mad Bloody Mary scientist and concoct your own libation at the fully stocked bar, pictured below. It features Tahoe Blue Vodka, made down the hill in Sacramento, pickled carrots, celery, olives, tomato juice, horseradish and over 20 hot sauces. Known as “breakfast in a glass.”
