Food masterfully on point at Six Peaks Grille (Olympic Valley, California)

SMALL BITE: You’ll find Six Peaks Grille inside the beautiful Resort at Squaw Creek in North Lake Tahoe.  You can’t miss the turn-off toward Olympic Valley: Just look for the Olympic torch and flame burning at the entrance, a reminder that Squaw Valley was the site of the 1960 Winter Olympics. It’s still rather thrilling more than 50 years later. The restaurant offers commanding views of the Sierra Nevada Mountains, where Olympic-class skiers once raced for the gold.

SIGNATURE DISH: Steaks — especially the Filet Mignon (cuts like butter!) — and seafood!

DISH FROM DINERS: “Walking into Six Peaks, I was immediately blown away by the views. Our meal was chocked full of variety and certainly even exceeded the mountain-scapes outside. I highly suggest the cream-filled donuts with berry sauce made to order for dessert.”

FOOD FOR THOUGHT: Six Peaks Grille harvests fresh vegetables and herbs from its onsite garden. They grow dill, lavender, cilantro, basil and other herbs, as well as zucchini, tomatoes, cucumbers and peppers. Sit inside and enjoy panoramic views from floor-to-ceiling windows, or sit outside on the patio beside an outdoor fire pit.
